Job Description

Job Summary:

The Dialysis Technician is responsible for assisting in the delivery of hemodialysis treatments by preparing dialysis machines, cannulating patient access, initiating and discontinuing treatments, and monitoring patients throughout their care. The role requires careful documentation, patient evaluation, and collaboration with nursing staff to ensure safe and effective dialysis therapy.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patient access before each cannulation and treatment.
• Set up and tear down dialysis machines safely and efficiently.
• Document necessary data for each patient during every treatment.
• Monitor patients closely during dialysis for adverse reactions and report to nursing staff as needed.
• Obtain laboratory specimens as ordered.
• Attend daily huddles and monthly meetings as scheduled.
• Perform additional nursing duties as requested.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• CCHT certification preferred or must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
• Six months of related work experience preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Previous experience in dialysis or related healthcare environment.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work in a clinical environment requiring patient interaction and monitoring.
• Compliance with safety and infection control standards is essential.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position with 3 shifts of 12 hours each.
