Position Summary

The Detox & Addiction Treatment RN provides direct nursing care and clinical support to clients receiving detoxification and substance use treatment services. The RN works collaboratively with physicians, counselors, and other treatment professionals to ensure clients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care throughout the recovery process.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and admission evaluations.
• Administer and dispense medications as prescribed.
• Provide physician-ordered treatments and interventions.
• Transcribe physician orders and maintain accurate medication records.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis and diagnostic testing.
• Monitor withdrawal symptoms and overall client health status.
• Provide health education and support to clients and families.
• Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Assess client needs and identify barriers that may impact recovery success.
• Respond to and manage medical, behavioral, and psychological crises.
• Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records and documentation.
• Assist in creating a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment.
• Monitor client activities and ensure facility safety and security.
• May provide clinical supervision and guidance to counselors, paraprofessional staff, and direct care personnel.
• May serve as shift supervisor during evening or overnight shifts.
• Assist with general client care activities, including meal distribution and room preparation as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to assess and respond to medical and behavioral health emergencies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred

• Experience in detoxification, addiction treatment, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, residential treatment programs, emergency, medical-surgical, or substance abuse treatment.
• Experience with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) programs.
• Knowledge of withdrawal management protocols and addiction recovery principles.
